We enjoyed a great week in the U.P. with my family last week. Although it was a bit chilly up there for most of the week (high of 55 degrees on Tuesday), we still managed to have a great time. We spotted a bald eagle flying overhead, revisited Kitchitikipi Spring and Tahaquemenon Falls, ate FRESH whitefish at Brown's Fishery in Paradise, played countless games (Farkle!) around the kitchen table, splashed around in the water, watched the little boys reel in countless bluegill aboard the pontoon boat, told stories around the campfire, and, of course, ate way too much.
As usual, I was teary-eyed as we pulled away and said goodbye to a week spent with family, away from normal life. For me, each family vacation marks a distinct time in life -- moments I think we'll look back on some day and "remember when."
