Joshua John

Joshua John VanderLugt came into the world at 10:11 on April 20, 2009. I have to say that labor and delivery the second time around was much more enjoyable for Tim and I. I started contractions at about 5:45 and had a baby before the evening news. Plus, it was a day BEFORE my due date. After being quite overdue with Caleb (and then induced), I was just thankful to go into labor on my own, let alone have him before expected.

We're settling in well at home. Joshua is a champ at the three requirements for babies -- eating, sleeping, and pooping. After the first couple of nights, he's got his nights and days switched around correctly, and we're even getting a little sleep at night.

Caleb seems to be enjoying becoming a big brother. He likes to dote on his younger brother and gives him lots of kisses. He does ask every day whether "his brother is big, yet" -- and we've had to explain that it might be a bit before Josh can join him in a game of baseball.

I'm feeling blessed to have such a long break from school (and maybe just slightly excited that I'm missing out on the students' spring fever that is ineveitable at the end of the year). I'm trying to enjoy life's simple moments and take advantage of this time to hang out with all three of my boys.
