Can't resist sharing my proud mama moment tonight...
Caleb was working on something quietly at the table, and then told me he was writing his first chapter book. Since the picture below is tough to read, here's his original story (with translation in case you don't read "first grade"). This was his own work, so I didn't even make him correct his run-on sentences (yet).

Wups ut pontim (Once upon a time)
I was with my fethe (friends)
We wit into a ceck (creek) and we wr in a fortis (forest)
and we wr lucking for sum fogs (we were looking for some frogs)
and we wr wacking for a loon tine (walking for a long time)
it felth like I was wacking for 10 orss (it felt like I was walking for 10 hours).
and I wadid for sumb to cuoe (waited for some to come)
and sule my fende isick sad (and so my friend Isaac said)
sumine sumbte cam tors it (? somebody come towards it).
it was a heoj foog (huge frog).
I was so happe (happy.)
(P.S. Props to his school and teacher for focusing on Writing Workshop...love it!)
