Theology with a Three year-old

Another "Caleb-ism..."

Tonight as I was putting Caleb to bed he was stalling as usual. He asked me why we have to sleep and I told him we need energy because our bodies get tired. He answered with his most common phrase, "Why, Mom?" And I told him, "Because that's the way God made us." The rest of our conversation went something like this:

Caleb: "Mom, where is God?"
Me: "God lives up in heaven so he can watch and take care of everyone."
C: "Is God a kid?"
M: "Ummm...well, God has been around for a long time, so he's more like a grown-up."
C: "Mom, is God a girl?" (Are you insinuating that girls are the ones that take care of people?)
M: "Well, God isn't really a boy or a girl -- he's just special."
C: "Oh. "

I'm guessing the questions won't get easier as he gets older?
