It's been a good week or so. Last weekend my college roommates, Sara, AJ, Julie, and I reunited in Detroit for a fun girls weekend -- it's so good to be with those people who know you inside and out and still love you. We spent a lot of time reminiscing, laughing, discussing, eating, crafting, and drinking Sangria. A.J. (accidently?) left her backpack in the Jeep and I drove it home to Hudsonville, so we met up in Lansing on Wednesday with my mom and the kids. We had fun playing at the park and watching Helena and Caleb bounce through the mall together hand-in-hand. It makes a Mama proud to see her son loving on her best friend's daughter. :) And then today, Julie and I had a celebratory lunch in Grand Rapids after I finished my last Masters Class. (Woo Hoo!!) Julie takes off tomorrow on "Sea-to-Sea," a bike ride from Seattle to Colorado she's doing to raise money to fight global poverty. Sounds like an amazing and challenging trip!
Yesterday, my mother-in-law taught me how to make strawberry jam (and we had so much leftover we made strawberry pie, strawberry tarts, and more!). We had a good time in the kitchen and will enjoy the fruits of our labor for many months.
Caleb is becoming quite the water rat and gave up his "swimmies" today and is using just his swim belt. He discovered that jumping off the diving board is quite a bit of fun and now is, no surprise, napping soundly.
